Social media pioneer and engineer of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has quickly become a household name. After creating the idea of Facebook, he has become Facebook’s chief executive. As of July 2015, Mark Zuckerberg was worth an estimated $38.6 billion dollars. Whether individuals like or dislike Facebook, Facebook has quickly become a household name and the most popular social media-networking site currently in existence. Facebook also holds the title of the fastest growing social media entity. Mark Zuckerberg has become a frequent topic of conversation for being a young billionaire and social media pioneer.   1. You get what you spend your time working on: When Mark was in college; he was captain of his fencing team. He also had hobbies reciting epic poems like The Iliad. Having a variety of hobbies and interests will serve as a competitive advantage in the long run as you gain real world skills and insight. Having multiple passions will also serve you well as you may never be able to adequately predict what skills will bear the most fruit in life.   1. Always get feedback: Mark began using computers in middle school. This is where he began writing software. Starting this process at a young age helped him develop his talent while maintaining a high level of feedback. Never lose your enthusiasm for throwing things at the wall and receiving feedback and criticism. “Move fast and break things. Unless you are breaking stuff, you are not moving fast enough” – Mark Zuckerberg.

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes: “The biggest risk is not taking any risk… In a world that changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks” –Mark Zuckerberg. Mark enjoyed creating many computer programs. Among his favorite to create and perfect were communication tools and gaming software. There is no way to ensure perfection when creating anything. You simply must do your best and accept the mistakes you make along the way. Take one step at a time and do not get dragged under by the amount of work that may lie ahead. “I think a simple rule of business is, if you do the things that are easier first, then you can actually make a lot of progress” – Mark Zuckerberg. By taking it slow and tackling one obstacle at a time, you will make fewer mistakes and accept the errors you make.

Honesty and compatibility is important is as important in the workplace as it is in one’s personal life. Choose people to work under you who you would not mind working for yourself. This caught the eye of many. Choose people that show a natural aptitude for the skills for which they are being hired to demonstrate. Choose those with a passion for what they do.
